Biography

Ariana Warren is a mezzo-soprano from Long Island, NY. She is currently an Opera Iowa artist with Des Moines Metro Opera where she is performing “Jezibaba” in the educational outreach tour production of Rusalka: The Littlest Mermaid. She also covered “Third Lady” in Kosky’s production of The Magic Flute with DMMO. This will be Ariana’s third summer with The Glimmerglass Festival. In previous seasons she has performed "Second Lady" in The Magic Flute, "Mastrilla" in Songbird (an English adaptation of La Périchole) and performed in the musical theater concert, To The World. She also covered Isabel Leonard in the title role of Songbird.  In the GGF 2020 season, Ariana was slated to cover Isabel Leonard as “Maria” in The Sound of Music, cover “Zerlina” in Don Giovanni and sing in the chorus of Wagner’s Die Feen. She is looking forward to returning this summer to cover the title role in Carmen, directed by Denyce Graves, and to cover “Nelda” in Kamala Sankaram’s Taking Up Serpents. 

 

Other credits include "La Zia Principessa" (Suor Angelica), "Zita" (cover) (Gianni Schicchi), "Eleanor Roosevelt" in a reading of Well Behaved Women composed by Broadway's Carmel Dean, "Carmen" (Carmen), "Arsamene" (Serse), "Dinah" (Trouble in Tahiti), "Lee" (Marie Begins), "Cecilia" in the world premiere of Behold the Man by Paul Fowler and Andrew Flack, "Ino" (Semele), "Jo" (Little Women) and "Aloès" (L'Étoile).  In 2016 she was a soloist with the Ithaca College Choir at Lincoln Center. She graduated in 2019 from Arizona State University with a M.M. in Opera Performance and received a dual B.M. in Vocal Performance and Music Education from Ithaca College. Before pursuing her graduate studies, she was an apprentice artist with Opera Ithaca in their 2016-17 season. She has also participated in Canto Vocal Programs, Opera Viva! in Verona, Italy and The Wesley Balk Opera/Music Theater Institute.

 

Ariana has earned an encouragement award in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and was a recipient of the Opera Club of Syracuse Award through the Civic Morning Musicals Competition.  She won the Ithaca College Concerto Competition and was a finalist in the ASU Concerto Competition. She also sang with Opera Works' Ann Baltz in "Broken Bonds: An improv opera."  She was chosen to sing for the Ithaca College School of Music Recruitment CD. While home on Long Island, Ariana performs with Opera Night Long Island.
